On this lo-fi recording, corn grains are sitting in a frying pan and begin to pop as the oil is hissing. It provides an interesting and regular popping sound suitable for mid-range frequencies. The recording is done with a tie-microphone, and extra treatment is done on audacity to reduce noise and isolate the sound.

I recorded the acoustic guitar with audacity, then added the fx with reaper. It is named 5pm because that was the time when i recorded it. In reaper i made 3 tracks of the same recording and added different fx to each one:track 1 contained reverb and flange with adjusted tempo. Track 2 contained a pitch delay doubler. Track 3 contained a resonant lowpass filter - low quality.

High e played on an acoustic gibson jumbo. The guitar was recorded with a single microphone (a brauner phantera) connected to an api pre-amp. The signal was fed into a digidesign a/d converter and recorded in protools 9 in waveform audio file format. All the samples were subsequently edited with the gpl software audacity. It's a recording of sounds of an old store refridgerator. The recorder (zoom h2) was put into the fridge and door closed. You can here the varying tempo of the compressor working, it's a characteristic cound that leaves a mark in your mind (especially if you listen to it for a long time). Recorded with zoomh2 rear mics from inside of the fridge. Converted to flac using audacity.
